How to Install a Trados Plugin Package (.sdlplugin)
Installation steps aligned with RWS plug-in deployment guidance: double-click the .sdlplugin file, or copy it to the version-specific Plugins\Packages folder.
1. Download the Plugin Package
After purchase or download, you will receive a .sdlplugin file. RWS plug-in deployment documentation describes .sdlplugin as the package format for Trados Studio plug-ins.
2. Method 1: Double-click to Install
Close Trados Studio, double-click the .sdlplugin file, and follow the installer prompts. Restart Trados Studio after installation.
3. Method 2: Manual Placement
If double-click installation fails, copy the .sdlplugin file to the version-specific Plugins\Packages folder. Studio 2024: %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins\Packages; Studio 2022: %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins\Packages; Studio 2021: %APPDATA%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\16\Plugins\Packages; Studio 2019: %APPDATA%\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\Plugins\Packages. Restart Trados Studio after placement.
4. Verify Installation
Open Trados Studio and go to Tools > Plug-ins to confirm the TransCraft plug-in is listed. If it is not visible, first confirm the .sdlplugin file is in the version-specific Plugins\Packages folder.
